The short answer
For most people, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE is the Android tablet to buy. It has a sharp 10.9-inch 90 Hz screen, an S Pen that works out of the box, IP68 water and dust resistance, and Samsung says the battery lasts up to 20 hours. It adds Galaxy AI tools like Circle to Search, Handwriting Assist and Math Solver. It costs about half as much as the flagship and does everything most people use a tablet for.
If you want the best Android tablet money can buy, the Galaxy Tab S11 adds a gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 12 GB of RAM, an S Pen and a body just 5.5 mm thin. For a bigger screen for less, the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro has a 12.7-inch 3K display, JBL speakers, and a pen and folio case in the box. Tighter budgets should look at the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, which still includes an S Pen, or the Lenovo Idea Tab, which bundles a pen, a folio case and 256 GB of storage.
Skip the S10 FE if you mainly watch movies in a dark room: its LCD can’t match the deep blacks of the Tab S11’s AMOLED. It is also not ideal if you want a laptop replacement for heavy multitasking, where the S11’s extra RAM and power help. And if you only need a tablet for streaming and reading, the Lenovo Idea Tab does that for much less. For kids, see our kids tablets guide instead.

Why each one made the list
What each pick does best, where it falls short, and the typical Amazon price when we checked.
- 1. Best Overall
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE
BeastScore 92 / 100Typically $450–$500 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The S10 FE is the sweet spot of Samsung’s range. The listing says the 10.9-inch screen runs at 90 Hz for smooth scrolling and games, dual speakers handle movies, and the battery lasts up to 20 hours with Super Fast Charging. The S Pen feels close to paper, and Galaxy AI tools make it a great note-taker: Handwriting Assist tidies messy notes and Math Solver cleans up equations. It is also water resistant from splashes to full immersion, which almost no tablet at this price offers. Owners praise the battery and the pen. The trade-offs: it’s an LCD, not AMOLED, and it is slower than the S11 for heavy apps.
Pros- S Pen and Galaxy AI note tools at a mid-range price
- Up to 20 hours of battery life by Samsung’s figure
- Water and dust resistant, rare for the price
Cons- LCD screen lacks the deep blacks of AMOLED
- Slower than the Tab S11 for heavy multitasking
- Keyboard cover costs extra
- 2. Best Flagship
Samsung Galaxy Tab S11
BeastScore 91 / 100Typically $800–$900 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Tab S11 is the best Android tablet on Amazon, full stop. The listing says its 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with Vision Booster is built for long sessions, and 12 GB of RAM keeps many apps open without slowdowns. The included S Pen works with Note Assist to organize meeting notes and Drawing Assist to turn rough sketches into clean mock-ups. Gemini Live can talk through what is on screen or in front of the camera. It is just 5.5 mm thin, rated IP68, and takes a microSD card. The catch is price: it costs nearly twice as much as the S10 FE, and the keyboard is extra.
Pros- Best screen here: AMOLED with deep blacks
- 12 GB RAM for smooth multitasking
- Thin, IP68-rated metal body with S Pen included
Cons- Nearly twice the price of the S10 FE
- Keyboard cover sold separately
- 128 GB base storage is tight for the price
- 3. Best Big Screen
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro
BeastScore 88 / 100Typically $350–$400 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Idea Tab Pro gives you the biggest screen here for well under the S11’s price. The listing says it has a 12.7-inch 3K display, quad JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip that is quick enough for games. The Tab Pen Plus and a folio case come in the box, so there is nothing else to buy. You get up to 11 hours of video streaming and 45 W fast charging. Owners love the screen and sound for movies. It is less polished than a Samsung, with no water resistance, and Lenovo’s update support is shorter.
Pros- Big 12.7" 3K screen for the money
- Pen and folio case included
- Loud, full quad JBL speakers
Cons- No water or dust rating
- Shorter software support than Samsung
- Larger and heavier to hold in one hand
- 4. Best Budget Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite
BeastScore 86 / 100Typically $350–$400 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The S10 Lite is the cheapest way into a Samsung tablet with an S Pen. The listing says it has a 10.9-inch screen with Vision Booster, an Exynos 1380 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage that you can expand up to 2 TB with microSD. The battery lasts up to 16 hours by Samsung’s figure. You still get Circle to Search, note cleanup and math solving with the pen, and it links with Galaxy phones. Owners like it for reading, streaming and school. It is slower than the S10 FE, has no water resistance, and the price gap to the FE is small.
Pros- S Pen included at a lower price
- microSD expansion up to 2 TB
- Galaxy AI tools and Galaxy phone integration
Cons- Slower chip than the S10 FE
- No water or dust resistance
- Often close in price to the better S10 FE
- 5. Best Value
Lenovo Idea Tab
BeastScore 84 / 100Typically $250–$280 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Idea Tab is the best deal here if you want a pen and a case without paying Samsung prices. This listing bundles the tablet with a Tab Pen and folio case, and it has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, double the others. The listing says the 11-inch 2.5K screen runs at 90 Hz, quad speakers are Dolby Atmos tuned, and it lasts up to 12 hours of YouTube. Circle to Search works with the pen or a finger. Owners like the value. The Dimensity 6300 chip is the slowest here, so heavy games and many open apps can lag.
Pros- Pen, folio case and 256 GB storage included
- Sharp 2.5K 90 Hz screen for the price
- Up to 12 hours of video
Cons- Slowest chip in this guide
- Plastic feel next to the Samsungs
- No water resistance
