iPhone 17e Case Compatibility
Do 16e Cases Fit? Yes, Plus 9 Cases That Name the 17e

Our #1 pick is the Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit for iPhone 17e / 16e. A 16e case fits the iPhone 17e, an iPhone 17 case does not, and the one real difference is MagSafe. Here is what fits and why, then 9 cases labeled by the problem they fix, with a clear winner for most people.

How we picked: we shortlist by Amazon Best Seller rank and number of ratings, then compare published specs. We don’t test these products hands-on.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit for iPhone 17e / 16e

The short answer

An iPhone 16e case fits the iPhone 17e, and an iPhone 17 case does not. Apple lists both the 17e and the 16e at 5.78 by 2.82 by 0.31 inches (146.7 by 71.5 by 7.8 mm), each with one rear camera and an Action button, and AppleInsider, Android Headlines and Cult of Mac all say a 16e case should fit the 17e. The iPhone 17 is taller at 149.6 mm, has two rear cameras and a Camera Control button, so its case will not line up. The one real difference is MagSafe: Apple lists MagSafe charging up to 15W on the 17e and Qi charging up to 7.5W on the 16e, so a plain 16e case fits but will not snap onto a MagSafe charger, wallet or car mount. For a 17e, buy a case whose listing names the 17e and lists magnets. The best one is the Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit: it names the 17e and the 16e, it is a MagFit case with MagSafe accessory support, and Spigen Inc sells it for about $15 to $20.

Pick by the problem you want fixed. The ESR Classic Hybrid is the clear case with a stated yellowing test and magnets for about $15. The FNTCASE Magnetic is the budget pick at under $10, with a glass screen protector in the box. The Spigen Tough Armor MagFit is the rugged one, with a built-in kickstand. The Miracase Full-Body has a glass screen protector built into the front cover, the SUPFINE Magnetic gives you a matte back for about $10, and the Miracase Silicone & Magnetic gives you the soft feel of silicone with magnets. Two picks solve special jobs. The OtterBox Commuter is the one case whose listing names the 17e, 16e, 15, 14 and 13 together, and the Smartish Wallet Slayer holds up to four cards but, per its listing, does not work with MagSafe or wireless chargers.

Skip the Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit if you want a screen protector in the box, because it has none, or if you want a drop height on the listing, because it says only “military-grade.” What the ranking pages miss: the pages that rank for this question are mostly case-brand stores and help pages that say “yes, it fits” and then point you to their own case. They rarely say that the 17e added MagSafe, that an old 16e case may carry no magnets, or which brand’s case is the safe pick for a 15, 14 or 13 owner. They also do not compare cases from different brands. This page does, and it ends with what to skip. How we picked: we took the size, camera and MagSafe facts from Apple’s spec pages and from AppleInsider, Android Headlines and Cult of Mac, then checked every listing on Amazon.com on November 7, 2026, and read what each one says. We did not test any case hands-on. We left out the OtterBox Defender listing marked “17e & 16e (Only)” because it describes a magnet-free design, the JETech anti-yellowing case because its listing states no magnets, and the MagSafe versions of the OtterBox Commuter and Defender because they came from third-party sellers that day. We did not find Apple’s own 17e case on Amazon.com.

Every pick, explained

Why each one made the list

What each pick does best, where it falls short, and the typical Amazon price when we checked.

  1. 1. Best overall · Fixes: no MagSafe snap on a 17e

Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit for iPhone 17e / 16e

    BeastScore 93 / 100Typically $15–$20 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

This is the pick for the most common 17e worry: will it fit, and will it still snap onto MagSafe? The listing names the iPhone 17e and the iPhone 16e, the product details call it an Ultra Hybrid MagFit case that works with wireless charging and MagSafe accessories, and Spigen Inc sells it. It adds Air Cushion corners, raised screen and camera edges, and a blue resin the listing says keeps the back clear longer. It costs a few dollars more than the budget magnets below. Skip it if you want a screen protector in the box, because it has none, or a stated drop height.

    Pros
    • Names the 17e and 16e on the listing, and Spigen itself is the seller
    • MagFit build for MagSafe chargers and accessories
    • Clear hybrid with raised screen and camera edges
    Cons
    • No screen protector in the box
    • The drop claim is “military-grade” with no height
    • The clarity claim is the maker’s, with no test or time frame listed
  2. 2. Best clear · Fixes: a clear case that yellows

ESR Classic Hybrid for iPhone 17e / 16e (Clear)

    BeastScore 91 / 100Typically $10–$15 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

Take the ESR if a clear case that goes yellow is what put you off clear cases. The listing says an anti-yellowing coating keeps it clearer than other clear cases after the equivalent of 6 months of use, and that it is SGS-tested against UV discoloration. Magnets hold up to 1,500 g, and the drop claim is 11 ft, a number the Spigen listing does not give. It costs a little less than the Spigen. Skip it if you want proof beyond 6 months, because that is the longest period the listing states, and the comparison is ESR’s own.

    Pros
    • Names a test (SGS) and a time frame (6 months of use) for its yellowing claim
    • States a drop height: 11 ft
    • Magnets with up to 1,500 g of holding force
    Cons
    • The clarity proof stops at 6 months, and the comparison is ESR’s own
    • No screen protector in the box
    • Stated magnet hold is lower than the FNTCASE’s 2,400 g
  3. 3. Best value · Fixes: no screen protector, tight budget

FNTCASE Magnetic for iPhone 17e / 16e (Clear, with screen protector)

    BeastScore 90 / 100Typically $5–$10 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

This is the cheapest way to cover both the case and the screen. The listing says the set includes a 9H tempered glass screen protector and a cleaning kit, the case has 38 N52 magnets for a 2,400 g lock, and it is made only for the iPhone 17e and 16e: it says it supports no other model. A nano layer is said to resist yellowing. Pick it over the Spigen if price and the glass protector matter most. Skip it if you want a bigger name: FNTCASE is a smaller maker, and the yellowing, magnet and drop figures are its own claims.

    Pros
    • Glass screen protector and a cleaning kit in the box
    • Strong magnet claim: 38 N52 magnets and a 2,400 g lock
    • Lowest price of the magnetic cases here
    Cons
    • A lesser-known brand than Spigen, ESR or OtterBox
    • The yellowing, magnet and drop figures are the maker’s claims
    • Sold by a third-party seller on Amazon, not by the brand
  4. 4. Best rugged · Fixes: hard drops, no stand

Spigen Tough Armor MagFit for iPhone 17e / 16e

    BeastScore 89 / 100Typically $20–$25 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

Pick the Tough Armor if you drop your phone or like to prop it up. The listing names the iPhone 17e and 16e, says it uses XRD foam with AI-enhanced placement, and shows a built-in kickstand for hands-free viewing. It is a MagFit case, and the listing says it works with wireless charging and MagSafe accessories. Spigen Inc is the seller. Skip it if you want a slim, clear case, because this is the rugged build, or if you want a drop height: the listing says military-grade and gives no number.

    Pros
    • Rugged dual-layer build with foam in the corners
    • Built-in kickstand for video and calls
    • Sold by Spigen itself, with MagFit magnets
    Cons
    • A rugged build, not a slim one, and the listing states no thickness
    • No screen protector in the box
    • The drop claim has no height or test named
  5. 5. Best all-in-one · Fixes: cracked screens

    Miracase Full-Body Case with Built-in Glass for iPhone 17e / 16e

    BeastScore 88 / 100Typically $20–$25 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

Choose this one if a cracked screen worries you more than a thick case. The listing says the front cover has a built-in 9H glass screen protector, so there is no bubble to fight, and the case is a two-piece 360° full-body design with a magnet ring for MagSafe accessories and wireless charging. It names the iPhone 17e and 16e, and the clear back is described as never yellowing, which is the maker’s claim. Skip it if you want a thin one-piece case or the feel of a bare screen: the front cover covers the glass, and the listing says to install the back from the bottom.

    Pros
    • Glass screen protector built into the front cover
    • 360° full-body shell with a magnet ring
    • Names the 17e and 16e on the listing
    Cons
    • Two-piece shell with a front cover, so the bare-screen feel is gone
    • Front and back shells to snap on, which is more fitting work than a one-piece case
    • The “never yellow” and drop claims are the maker’s, with no test or height named
  6. 6. Best matte · Fixes: smudgy, slippery backs

SUPFINE Magnetic for iPhone 17e / 16e (Matte Black)

    BeastScore 87 / 100Typically $5–$10 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

A matte back is the fix for a clear case that shows every fingerprint and slides around. The listing says the back is a matte-coated hard PC panel inside a flexible TPU frame, that the coating blocks smudges and fingerprints, and that built-in magnets make it MagSafe compatible. It fits only the iPhone 16e and 17e, and the drop claim is 10 ft. It costs about the same as the cheapest clear case here. Skip it if you want to show off your phone’s color, because the back is matte, or if you want a screen protector: the set has none, and the listing gives no magnet strength.

    Pros
    • Matte back that the listing says blocks smudges and fingerprints
    • Built-in magnets for MagSafe, at about $10
    • States a 10 ft drop test
    Cons
    • Not clear, so it hides the phone’s color
    • No screen protector in the box
    • The listing gives no magnet strength, so see listing
  7. 7. Best for 5 phones · Fixes: one case for several iPhones

    OtterBox Commuter for iPhone 17e, 16e, 15, 14 & 13

    BeastScore 86 / 100Typically $35–$45 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

This answers the question in the title when you own more than one phone. The listing says one Commuter is engineered for the iPhone 17e, 16e, 15, 14 and 13, so a mixed household, or someone upgrading from an older phone, buys one design. It is a dual-layer case rated at 3X the military drop standard, with port covers and rubber-gripped edges, and Amazon sells it. Skip it if you want MagSafe: the listing states no magnets, and OtterBox’s MagSafe versions came from third-party sellers that day. It also costs well over twice what the Spigen does.

    Pros
    • One case design for the 17e, 16e, 15, 14 and 13
    • Port covers keep dust out of the openings
    • Amazon sells it, and OtterBox is a well-known brand
    Cons
    • No magnets stated, so no MagSafe snap on a phone that supports it
    • Costs well over twice the Spigen or ESR
    • The drop claim is “3X military standard” with no height
  8. 8. Best soft grip · Fixes: wanting silicone with magnets

    Miracase Silicone & Magnetic for iPhone 17e / 16e

    BeastScore 85 / 100Typically $15–$20 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

Pick this for the soft feel of a silicone case with magnets built in. The listing says it is liquid silicone, 2.8 mm thick, with an anti-fingerprint, scratch-resistant surface, a raised lip around the screen and camera, and a magnetic function for wireless charging and MagSafe. It fits only the iPhone 17e and 16e and comes in many colors. We did not find Apple’s own 17e case on Amazon.com, so this is the closest silicone match listed. Skip it if you want a clear back or a stated drop height: the listing says drop protection and gives no number.

    Pros
    • Soft liquid-silicone feel in many colors
    • Magnetic function for MagSafe and wireless charging
    • Raised lip around the screen and camera
    Cons
    • No drop height or test named on the listing
    • Silicone is a solid color, so the phone’s color is hidden
    • No screen protector in the box
  9. 9. Best wallet case · Fixes: carrying cards without a wallet

    Smartish Wallet Slayer V1 for iPhone 17e / 16e

    BeastScore 83 / 100Typically $25–$35 on Amazon (checked November 7, 2026)

Choose this if the real problem is carrying cards. The listing says its side-loading slot holds one to four cards plus cash with no moving parts, that it was drop-tested 50 times from 6 ft onto concrete, and it names the iPhone 17e and 16e. Amazon sells it. The catch is big on a phone with MagSafe: the listing states it is not compatible with MagSafe or wireless chargers, so you charge by cable and cannot use a magnetic car mount. Skip it if you use MagSafe, and buy the Spigen or ESR instead, since the ESR listing names wallets among its magnetic accessories.

    Pros
    • Holds one to four cards plus cash in one slim case
    • States a drop test: 50 drops from 6 ft onto concrete
    • Amazon is the seller, with a one-piece build and no hinge
    Cons
    • Not compatible with MagSafe or wireless chargers, per the listing
    • Costs more than the magnetic clear cases
    • Holds up to four cards plus cash, and no more

Quick tips before you buy

Read the model line, not the photo

The listing title should say iPhone 17e, often as “17e/16e.” A case for the iPhone 17, 16 or any Pro model will not line up with a 17e.

Pick magnets if you use MagSafe

The 17e supports MagSafe and the 16e does not, so an old 16e case may have no magnets. Look for a magnet ring in the listing before you buy.

Decide on the screen now

Only the FNTCASE and the Miracase full-body come with glass for the screen. The others have raised edges only, so budget about $10 for a protector.

Reusing a 15, 14 or 13 case?

Their bodies are close to the 17e’s, but they have two rear cameras and the 17e has one. Reuse one only if its listing names the 17e. OtterBox lists one case for all five.

Quick answers

Will an iPhone 16e case fit the iPhone 17e?+

Yes, in size. Apple lists both phones at 5.78 by 2.82 by 0.31 inches (146.7 by 71.5 by 7.8 mm), and both have a single rear camera and an Action button. AppleInsider’s March 2026 report, Android Headlines and Cult of Mac all say a 16e case should fit the 17e. The catch is magnets. The 17e has MagSafe, with charging up to 15W on Apple’s spec page, and the 16e has Qi charging at up to 7.5W. A 16e case without magnets fits, but it will not snap onto MagSafe chargers, wallets or mounts. Cult of Mac suggests cases made for the 17e, because their magnet rings are placed for it. Check that the listing names the 17e. Every pick on this page does.

Is the iPhone 17e the same size as the iPhone 16e?+

Yes. Apple lists the same height, width and depth for both phones, 146.7 by 71.5 by 7.8 mm, and both have a 6.1-inch screen. The 17e is about 2 grams heavier, 169 g against 167 g. Android Headlines says the camera and the volume, power and Action buttons sit in the same places on both. The one difference that matters for a case is MagSafe, which only the 17e has.

Is an iPhone 17e case the same as an iPhone 17 case?+

No. Apple lists the iPhone 17 at 149.6 by 71.5 by 7.95 mm, taller and thicker than the 17e at 146.7 by 71.5 by 7.8 mm. The 17 has two rear cameras and a Camera Control button. Apple’s own spec footnote says Camera Control is on iPhone 16 models and later, excluding the 16e and the 17e, and the 17e has one rear camera. Listings say it plainly: JETech says its case is not for the iPhone 17 or 16, and the OtterBox Defender listing says it is not compatible with the 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max or any 16 model other than the 16e. Do not buy an iPhone 17 case for a 17e.

Does an iPhone 14, 15 or 13 case fit the iPhone 17e?+

Only if the listing says so. Apple lists the iPhone 14 and 13 at 146.7 by 71.5 mm, the same footprint as the 17e, and the iPhone 15 at 147.6 by 71.6 mm, a little taller. But all three have two rear cameras and the 17e has one, so a case made for one of them may not match the 17e’s camera opening, and none of the sources we read tests it. OtterBox makes it simple: its Commuter, Defender MagSafe and Figura listings each name the 17e, 16e, 15, 14 and 13 together. For any other brand, trust only a listing that names the 17e, and see the listing if it does not.

Do I need a magnetic case for the iPhone 17e?+

If you use MagSafe chargers, wallets, car mounts or power banks, yes. Apple lists MagSafe wireless charging up to 15W with a 20W or higher adapter on the 17e. Cases with a built-in magnet ring say they give a stronger hold: the ESR listing says up to 1,500 g and the FNTCASE listing says a 2,400 g lock, though those are the makers’ own figures. A case with no magnets, such as the OtterBox Commuter (none stated) or the Smartish wallet case (not compatible with MagSafe, per its listing), suits people who charge by cable. If you are not sure which you are, a magnetic case keeps the option open.

Is there an iPhone 17e case compatibility chart?+

Here is the short version. Fits by size: iPhone 16e cases, and any case whose listing names the iPhone 17e. Check the listing first: iPhone 15, 14 and 13 cases, since OtterBox lists one case for all five and others may not. Does not fit: iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max cases, and the other iPhone 16 models, per the OtterBox and JETech listings. One more rule sits on top of the chart: a 16e case that fits may still have no magnets, so it will not hold MagSafe accessories on a 17e. When in doubt, buy a case that says “17e” in its title and “MagSafe” or “magnetic” in its bullets.

What should you skip when buying an iPhone 17e case?+

Skip any case made for the iPhone 17 or 16, whatever the photo shows. Skip a 15, 14 or 13 case unless the listing names the 17e. Skip magnet-free cases if you use MagSafe: the OtterBox Defender listing marked “17e & 16e (Only)” describes a magnet-free design, and the Smartish wallet case says it is not compatible with MagSafe. Skip an old 16e case if you want the best MagSafe hold, because Cult of Mac recommends cases made for the 17e, whose magnet rings are placed for it. Skip no-name listings that bury the phone model, and skip renewed or reseller listings priced far above the usual range. If a case fits and you do not use MagSafe, you do not need to replace it.
