Ring vs Blink
Which Amazon camera should you buy?
Our overall winner is the Ring Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery. Ring and Blink are both Amazon brands, but they are built for different buyers. We compared Ring’s Outdoor Cam, Spotlight Cam Plus and Floodlight Cam with Blink’s Outdoor 4 and Outdoor 4 Floodlight on features, power, night video and running costs.
How we picked: we shortlist by Amazon Best Seller rank and number of ratings, then compare published specs. We don't test these products hands-on.

The short answer
For most homes, Ring is the better camera brand, and the Ring Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery is the one to start with. It gives you color night vision, two-way talk, customizable motion alerts and a rechargeable battery pack, and it costs about the same as a Blink Outdoor 4 kit. Ring also has the deeper range: add a Spotlight Cam Plus over the driveway or a Floodlight Cam Wired Plus over the garage, and everything lives in one app with your Ring doorbell.
Blink wins if you want the lowest cost and the least upkeep. The Blink Outdoor 4 runs for up to two years on two AA lithium batteries, so you can mount it and forget it, and Blink cameras can save clips to a USB drive or microSD card through a Sync Module, so a monthly plan is optional. The Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight adds a 700-lumen light with no wiring at all, which suits renters and dark side yards.
Skip Ring if you hate charging batteries or don’t want a subscription. Ring battery cams need recharging every few weeks to months, and without a Ring plan you get live view and alerts but no saved video. Skip Blink if you want color night video, a bright wired floodlight, or the most detail when someone is at the door: Blink’s Outdoor 4 uses infrared night vision, and its light options are dimmer than Ring’s.
How we picked: we compared the best-selling Ring and Blink outdoor cameras sold by Amazon.com, read what owners say about video, alerts and battery life, and checked each listing’s specs side by side. We don’t claim hands-on tests: these picks reflect the listings and real owner experience. Checked October 12, 2026.

Why each one made the list
What each pick does best, where it falls short, and the typical Amazon price when we checked.
- 1. Best Overall
Ring Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery
BeastScore 91 / 100Typically $60–$100 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Ring Outdoor Cam is the best-selling outdoor camera from either brand, and it is the safest place to start. The listing says it gives HD Live View, Color Night Vision and Two-Way Talk, runs on a rechargeable battery pack, and mounts on a wall or sits on a flat surface. It works indoors too. Customizable motion alerts keep notifications useful, and Alexa can announce motion or show the feed on an Echo Show. It also sits in the same app as your Ring doorbell. Owners praise the easy setup and clear video. To save and rewatch clips you need a Ring subscription, and the battery needs recharging.
Pros- Color night vision, unlike Blink Outdoor 4
- Huge owner base and very easy setup
- Same app as Ring doorbells and floodlights
Cons- No saved video without a Ring subscription
- Battery needs recharging every so often
- No light or siren for deterring visitors
- 2. Best Battery Life
Blink Outdoor 4 (1-camera system)
BeastScore 87 / 100Typically $50–$80 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Blink Outdoor 4 is the camera to buy if you never want to think about it again. The listing says it runs up to two years on the two included AA Energizer lithium batteries, streams 1080p HD live view, and has two-way audio and dual-zone motion detection. This kit includes the Sync Module Core you need to get started. Person detection needs an optional Blink plan, but you can add a Sync Module XR or Sync Module 2 later to save clips locally without one. Owners love the battery life and price. Night video is infrared black and white, and the Core module itself has no local storage.
Pros- Up to two years on two AA batteries
- Lowest cost to buy and to run
- Local clip storage possible with no monthly plan
Cons- Black-and-white infrared night video
- Sync Module Core included here has no local storage
- Person detection needs a Blink plan
- 3. Best Spotlight Cam
Ring Spotlight Cam Plus, Battery
BeastScore 89 / 100Typically $130–$180 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)The Spotlight Cam Plus adds lights and a siren to a Ring battery camera, so it can scare people off, not just film them. The listing says it records 1080p HD wide-angle video with Color Night Vision, and two motion-activated LED spotlights switch on when it sees movement. You can sound the built-in security siren from the app with a few taps. It runs on a Quick Release Battery Pack, so there is no wiring. Custom motion zones cut down on false alerts from the street. Owners like it over driveways and back doors. A Ring plan is needed to save video, and the lights drain the battery faster.
Pros- Spotlights and siren with no wiring
- Color night vision with the lights on
- Custom motion zones cut false alerts
Cons- Lights and siren use more battery
- Saved video needs a Ring subscription
- Bulkier than the Outdoor Cam
- 4. Best Wire-Free Floodlight
Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera
BeastScore 85 / 100Typically $80–$100 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)This is the cheapest way to get a floodlight camera you don’t have to wire in. The listing says the Outdoor 4 Floodlight has 700 lumens of motion-triggered LED light, 1080p HD live view, two-way audio and up to two years of battery life from two AA lithium batteries, with a Sync Module in the box. You can mount it anywhere you want light, with no electrician. AI person detection comes with an optional Blink plan, and a Sync Module XR with a microSD card adds local storage. Owners like it for side yards and sheds. The light is much dimmer than Ring’s 2,000-lumen wired floodlight.
Pros- Floodlight camera with no wiring at all
- Up to two years on two AA batteries
- Sync Module included in the box
Cons- 700 lumens is far dimmer than wired floodlights
- Infrared night video, not color
- Local storage needs an extra Sync Module XR
- 5. Best Floodlight
Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus
BeastScore 90 / 100Typically $150–$200 on Amazon (checked October 12, 2026)If you already have an outdoor light fixture, the Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is the strongest deterrent here. The listing says it pairs 1080p HD video with 2,000-lumen motion-activated LED floodlights and a siren you can set off from the Ring app. Because it is hardwired, there is no battery to charge and it is always on. Custom motion zones let you focus on the driveway, not the sidewalk, and Alexa can show the feed on an Echo Show. Owners rate it very highly and praise how bright it is. You need existing wiring and some comfort with an install, and saved clips need a Ring plan.
Pros- 2,000-lumen floodlights, the brightest here
- Hardwired: no batteries, always on
- Highly rated by a big owner base
Cons- Needs an existing outdoor junction box
- Saved video needs a Ring subscription
- Install takes more effort than a battery cam

Video and night vision
Ring Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery winsRing cameras use Color Night Vision, so you can still see clothing and car colors after dark. The Blink Outdoor 4 and Outdoor 4 Floodlight use infrared, which shows black-and-white video at night. Both brands stream HD live view in the day.
- Round 2

Blink Outdoor 4 (1-camera system) winsBlink wins easily. The Outdoor 4 runs up to two years on two AA lithium batteries. Ring battery cameras use a rechargeable pack that you take down and charge, more often if you use the spotlights or get lots of motion.
- Round 3
Subscription and storage
Blink Outdoor 4 (1-camera system) winsWithout a plan, Ring gives you live view and alerts but no saved video. Blink can store clips locally on a USB drive or microSD card through a Sync Module 2 or XR, so a plan is optional. Both brands’ plans add person detection and cloud history.
