Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake has a date, a price and a console to go with it.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches exclusively on Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Nintendo confirmed the date in its Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8. Nintendo's own US store page lists the game at $59.99 digital. The physical copy has a reported list price of $69.99.
A limited Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console launches one week earlier, on October 29. Reports say it sold out within hours of pre-orders opening. Here is what that means for you.

Prices differ by source in one place. Some retailers have reportedly cut the physical game to $59.99 to match digital, while others list it at $69.99. Prices can change, so check before you pay. We could not find a collector's edition or steelbook announced for the game.
What is new in the remake
The remake is more than a sharper picture. Coverage of the Direct and Amazon's own listing mention these changes:
- Fully voiced cutscenes
- A free-moving camera and a jump button
- Humming or singing into the Switch 2 microphone to play ocarina songs
- Visuals built from the ground up for Switch 2
One outlet notes that Nintendo has not yet published resolution or frame rate targets. Treat any numbers you see as guesses until Nintendo shares them.
Digital or physical?
The content is the same, so the choice is about how you like to play. Digital means no cartridge swapping, an instant download on launch day and a game that lives on your account. Physical means you can lend it, sell it later and keep the foil-cover first print. Amazon lists a digital code for the game today, which is the simplest way to lock in the $59.99 price. Retailer physical pre-orders can be cancelled or repriced, so watch your order until it ships.
The edition console: what we know
The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 costs $519.99 and launches October 29. It does not come with Ocarina of Time. You buy the game separately.
Reports say it sold out at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Amazon and the Nintendo Store soon after pre-orders opened. Shoppers also reported long queues and checkout errors on Nintendo's store. Nintendo has said more stock is coming, but we found no firm date. Notebookcheck later reported a brief restock at $519.99 on Nintendo's own store, so restocks do happen. Best Buy has said a limited number of consoles will be at select stores holding a midnight launch for the game on November 5.
If you missed out, set a stock alert at the big retailers and check Nintendo's store app for restock notices. Restocks often sell out within minutes, so have your account and payment details ready before you click.
Resellers are asking a lot. One report puts eBay prices at $750 to $850. We do not suggest paying that. The console plays the same games as a standard Switch 2.
Which should you buy?
- You own a Switch 2 and want the game: pre-order it. Digital at $59.99 is the cheapest sure thing. Pick physical if you want the foil first-print cover, but it may cost $10 more.
- You want the edition console: buy it only at the $519.99 list price from Nintendo, Best Buy or another big retailer. Watch for restocks. Skip eBay prices.
- You do not own a Switch 2 yet: buy a standard Switch 2 now and pre-order the game. Check that you are buying from Amazon, Nintendo or a major store, not a third-party seller with a marked-up bundle.
- Wait if you are happy with your current setup. Nintendo has not shared performance numbers, and early reviews will arrive close to launch.
