Black Friday 2026: Garmin watch deals
to buy now, wait for or skip
Our best buy is the Garmin Forerunner 165. Black Friday is 39 days away and Amazon has not announced its dates. We checked six Garmin watches (Forerunner, Instinct, vivoactive, Venu and fenix) on October 19 to see which are worth buying now, which to wait on and which to skip.
How we picked: we shortlist by Amazon Best Seller rank and number of ratings, then compare published specs. We don't test these products hands-on.

The short answer
When do Black Friday 2026 deals start? Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26), and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. Amazon has not announced its 2026 Black Friday sale dates yet (we checked on October 19). In past years its Black Friday deals started about a week before Black Friday and ran through Cyber Monday.
This page is a buying plan for adult Garmin watches sold on Amazon, checked on October 19. Buy now: the Forerunner 165, the Instinct 3 AMOLED 45mm and the vivoactive 5. Each is sold by Amazon.com, and each listing shows a current price well under its list price. Wait: the Forerunner 970 and the Venu 4. They are current models that showed no markdown when we looked. Skip: the fenix 8 47mm Sapphire at its Amazon.com price. The listing shows full price and says a newer model exists, and the cheaper fenix 8 listing we found was a third-party seller.
Don’t wait if your old watch has died or a race is coming, because a watch you can train with beats a small saving. Also remember that Garmin’s list prices are Garmin’s own, so a “percent off” badge does not prove a low price. We judge each watch against what similar watches cost. Prices move daily, so tap “View on Amazon” for today’s number. Looking for a kids watch? See our Black Friday kids smart watch guide, and for Apple Watch see our Black Friday Apple Watch guide.

Why each one made the list
What each pick does best, where it falls short, and the typical Amazon price when we checked.
- 1. Best Buy Now
Garmin Forerunner 165
BeastScore 92 / 100Typically $190–$210 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The Forerunner 165 is the clearest buy on the Garmin shelf. The listing shows a price about 20% under the list price, and Amazon.com is the seller. It has built-in GPS, wrist-based heart rate and a bright AMOLED touchscreen, and the listing says battery lasts up to 11 days as a watch and up to 19 hours with GPS on. It also offers daily suggested workouts that adapt to your performance and recovery, plus Garmin Coach plans. It is not the newest Forerunner, and that is the reason to buy now: the watch is already well down, so a Black Friday cut may be small.
Pros- About 20% under list price, sold by Amazon.com
- Up to 11 days of battery as a watch, per the listing
- Daily suggested workouts and Garmin Coach plans
Cons- Not Garmin’s newest running watch
- The list price is Garmin’s own, so compare with similar watches
- Smaller 43mm case may feel small on bigger wrists
- 2. Best Rugged Buy Now
Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED 45mm
BeastScore 90 / 100Typically $340–$360 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The Instinct 3 is Garmin’s tough, simple watch, and this AMOLED model shows a price about 22% under its list price with Amazon.com as the seller. The listing says it has a 1.2" AMOLED display and up to 18 days of battery, a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a metal-reinforced bezel, and a built-in LED flashlight with strobe modes. That mix suits hikers, tradespeople and anyone who hates charging. It costs more than the Forerunner 165, and it is a sports watch with fewer running-coach features. We call it a buy now because it is a current model already marked down.
Pros- About 22% under list price, sold by Amazon.com
- Up to 18 days of battery, per the listing
- Rugged case and built-in flashlight
Cons- Costs more than the Forerunner 165
- Chunky 45mm case is a lot for small wrists
- The list price is Garmin’s own, so judge it against similar watches
- 3. Best Everyday Buy Now
Garmin vivoactive 5
BeastScore 88 / 100Typically $180–$200 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The vivoactive 5 shows the deepest markdown here, about 36% under its list price, with Amazon.com as the seller. The listing says it has a bright AMOLED display, Body Battery energy monitoring, sleep scores and sleep coaching, and battery of up to 11 days. It is a health-first watch for everyday wear, not a training tool. The listing also says a newer model exists, and the vivoactive 6 costs noticeably more at Amazon.com. If you want the cheapest good Garmin, buy this one now. If you want the latest features, look at the newer one.
Pros- About 36% under list price, sold by Amazon.com
- Body Battery and sleep coaching, per the listing
- Up to 11 days of battery
Cons- An older model, and the listing says a newer one exists
- Fewer running and training tools than the Forerunner
- The list price is Garmin’s own, so compare with similar watches
- 4. Best Premium Watch to Wait For
Garmin Forerunner 970
BeastScore 86 / 100Typically $740–$760 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The Forerunner 970 is Garmin’s top running watch on this list. The listing says it has the brightest AMOLED touchscreen, a titanium bezel and sapphire lens, a built-in LED flashlight, up to 15 days of battery and up to 26 hours in GPS mode. It also adds running economy metrics and triathlon plans. It is sold by Amazon.com, but the listing showed no markdown on October 19. A current flagship at full price is the kind of watch that can get its first real cut during a big sale. Wait, and compare it with the Forerunner 165 before you pay this much.
Pros- Titanium bezel, sapphire lens and very bright AMOLED
- Up to 26 hours of GPS, per the listing
- Running economy and triathlon plans
Cons- Costs nearly four times the Forerunner 165
- No markdown shown on the listing today
- Overkill if you run for fun
- 5. Best Lifestyle Watch to Wait For
Garmin Venu 4
BeastScore 85 / 100Typically $540–$560 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The Venu 4 is Garmin’s dressier fitness watch. The listing says it has a bright, colorful display and a stainless steel design, up to 12 days of battery, a built-in flashlight and extensive health monitoring with sleep coaching. Amazon.com sells it, and the listing showed no markdown when we checked. It costs far more than the vivoactive 5, and the gap is mostly design and extras. A current model at full price is a candidate for a cut, but Garmin has not said so. Wait for the sale, and if the price does not move, consider the cheaper watches above.
Pros- Stainless steel design for everyday wear
- Up to 12 days of battery, per the listing
- Sleep coaching and health monitoring
Cons- Costs far more than the vivoactive 5
- No markdown shown on the listing today
- Fewer pure running tools than a Forerunner
- 6. Skip at This Price
Garmin fenix 8 Sapphire 47mm
BeastScore 80 / 100Typically $990–$1,010 on Amazon (checked October 19, 2026)The fenix 8 is a great watch on paper. The listing says it has a 1.4" AMOLED display with sapphire, up to 16 days of battery and up to 47 hours in GPS mode, plus strength plans and real-time stamina tracking. Our problem is the price and timing. The Amazon.com listing shows full price, and it says a newer model of this item exists. A cheaper fenix 8 listing on Amazon is from a third-party seller, which is not the same as buying from Amazon.com. At this price, most people should pick a Forerunner 970 or a Forerunner 165. Skip it unless Black Friday pulls it down a lot.
Pros- Sapphire AMOLED, up to 16 days of battery, per the listing
- Strength plans and stamina tracking
- Sold by Amazon.com
Cons- Full price, with no markdown on the listing
- The listing says a newer model exists
- The cheaper listing is from a third-party seller

Quick tips before you buy
Forerunners are for running, Instincts for rugged outdoor use, vivoactive and Venu for everyday health. Pick the type before the sale so you can move fast.
Garmin sells many models in two or three sizes, such as 42mm, 43mm, 45mm and 47mm. Check the size in the title against your wrist before you buy.
Look for a listing sold by Amazon.com or Garmin’s own store. Third-party sellers and bundles are sometimes cheaper at first, but they can come with fewer return options.
A watch can be fitted and returned only inside a limit. Open the listing’s return details so you know the window and who pays before you order.
Quick answers
When does Black Friday 2026 start on Amazon?+
Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. Amazon has not announced its 2026 sale dates yet, as of October 19. In past years its deals started about a week before Black Friday. If it repeats that, early deals could start around November 20. That is a guess, not an announcement.
Does Garmin have a Black Friday sale?+
Garmin has run Black Friday sales in past years, but it has not announced its 2026 sale yet as far as we found on October 19. Amazon’s own deals follow its own calendar. Until dates are confirmed, treat any date you see online as a guess.
Will the Garmin fenix 8 be cheaper on Black Friday?+
Nobody knows before the sale. The Amazon.com listing showed full price on October 19 and said a newer model exists, so a cut is plausible. A cheaper fenix 8 listing we saw was a third-party seller. We would wait, and compare it with the Forerunner 970 first.
Is the Garmin Forerunner 165 a good Black Friday buy?+
On October 19 it was our top buy-now pick. The listing showed a price about 20% under its list price, sold by Amazon.com. It is not Garmin’s newest running watch, so the price has less room to fall. It is a solid first running watch.
Should I wait for the Garmin Venu 4 on Black Friday?+
Probably. The Venu 4 is a current model, and the Amazon.com listing showed no markdown on October 19. That makes it a candidate for a cut, but Garmin has not said so. If you need a watch now, the vivoactive 5 is far cheaper.
Is it better to buy a Garmin now or wait for Black Friday?+
Buy now if the watch is already marked down, or is an older model with a newer one out, like the Forerunner 165 or vivoactive 5. Wait if it is a current model at full price, like the Forerunner 970 or Venu 4. If you buy now and the price drops later, do not count on a refund.
Which Garmin watch is best for beginners?+
For running, the Forerunner 165. For everyday health, the vivoactive 5. For hiking and long battery, the Instinct 3. All three showed markdowns on Amazon.com on October 19. See our Garmin vs Apple Watch guide if you are still comparing brands.
