Dyson vs Shark vs Tineco
Which cordless vacuum to buy
Our overall winner is the Dyson V15 Detect. Dyson is the premium name, Shark is the value favorite and Tineco is the wet-dry specialist. We compared each brand’s cordless pick on Amazon for cleaning, pet hair, battery and upkeep.
How we picked: we shortlist by Amazon Best Seller rank and number of ratings, then compare published specs. We don't test these products hands-on.

The short answer
Our pick is the Dyson V15 Detect. Its laser-lit Fluffy Optic head shows dust you would miss, a sensor counts what it picks up on the LCD screen, and the Digital Motorbar head de-tangles long hair and pet hair as you clean. It is the lightest of the three at 6.8 lb.
The Shark PowerDetect is the better deal for most homes. Shark says it gets up to 70 minutes in Eco mode, its DuoClean Detect head has two brushrolls and picks up on the forward and backward pass, and the wand bends to reach under furniture.
Tineco is known for wet-dry cleaning. When we checked Amazon US, its Pure One stick vacs were only listed as renewed units or third-party bundles, so we picked its best-selling cordless model instead: the Tineco iFLOOR 3 Breeze Complete. It vacuums and mops hard floors in one pass, but it is not for carpet.

Who wins where
The winner of each category, based on published specs and Amazon owner reviews. Pick the rounds that matter to you.
- Round 1
Carpet cleaning
TieDyson and Shark are both strong on carpet. Both boost power when they sense more dirt. Shark claims the best debris cleaning of any cordless vacuum, while the Dyson counts the particles it picks up on screen. The Tineco is made for hard floors only.
- Round 2
Hard floors
Tineco iFLOOR 3 Breeze Complete winsThe Tineco vacuums and mops at the same time, so sticky spills and dried-on dirt come up in one pass. Dyson’s Fluffy Optic head lights up fine dust on hard floors, but it can’t wash them.
- Round 3
Pet hair and tangles
Dyson V15 Detect winsDyson’s Digital Motorbar de-tangles long hair and pet hair as you clean, so you spend less time cutting hair off the brush. Shark’s two-brushroll head is also great on pet hair. The Tineco is not built for pet hair on rugs.
- Round 4
Battery
Shark PowerDetect Cordless winsShark lists up to 70 minutes in Eco mode, Dyson up to 60. Both drop a lot in boost mode. Dyson’s trigger only runs while you hold it, which helps the battery last.
- Round 5
Filtration
Dyson V15 Detect winsAll three use a HEPA filter. Dyson’s listing says the V15 reaches at least 99.97% filtration in its normal modes, the most detail any of the three gives. A good choice if you have allergies.
- Round 6
Dustbin and upkeep
Tineco iFLOOR 3 Breeze Complete winsPut the Tineco back in its dock and a self-cleaning cycle rinses the brush and tubes. You still empty the dirty water tank. Dyson and Shark bins are emptied by hand, though Shark also sells a Clean & Empty version with an auto-empty dock.
- Round 7
Value
Shark PowerDetect Cordless winsThe Shark matches the Dyson on most features and runs longer, and it often sells for less. The Dyson costs more but adds the particle counter and the lightest build.

- You already own a vacuum for rugs

Dyson V15 Detect
The best all-round cleaner: it shows hidden dust, de-tangles hair and is the lightest of the three.
- Laser dust reveal
- De-tangling Motorbar head
- Up to 60 min runtime
Quick tips before you buy
The 60 and 70 minute claims are in the lowest power mode. Boost mode drains much faster.
Long hair and fur wrap around brushes. Dyson’s Motorbar is built to stop that.
Don’t use the Tineco on rugs or unsealed wood. Pair it with a stick vac for carpets.
The Dyson is 6.8 lb, the Shark 8 lb and the Tineco 9.3 lb. Lighter is easier on stairs.
Quick answers
Is Dyson better than Shark?+
Dyson is better if you want the deepest clean, a de-tangling head and the lightest build. Shark is better value: it runs longer and often costs less, with very similar cleaning on carpet.
Is Tineco as good as Dyson?+
They do different jobs. Dyson is a stick vac for carpets and hard floors. Tineco’s top seller on Amazon US, the iFLOOR 3, is a wet-dry vacuum mop that washes hard floors but can’t clean carpet.
Which cordless vacuum is best for pet hair?+
The Dyson V15 Detect, because its Digital Motorbar head de-tangles pet hair as you clean. The Shark PowerDetect is a close second with its two-brushroll head.
How long do cordless vacuum batteries last?+
Per charge, up to 60 minutes for the Dyson and 70 for the Shark, in Eco mode. On boost or carpet you get much less. Our picks are based on listing specs and owner reviews.
Can a cordless vacuum replace a corded upright?+
For most homes, yes. Flagship stick vacs like the Dyson V15 and Shark PowerDetect handle carpet well. Very large homes may need a spare battery or a recharge mid-clean.
