Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, and official regulatory listings have revealed their battery capacities.
As usual, Apple itself only talks in video playback hours, never actual mAh numbers, but the regulatory process is here to save the day once again.
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,288 mAh battery (or 4,272 mAh for the physical SIM version), which is a 20% increase in capacity compared to the 3,582 mAh cell in the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,567 mAh battery (or 5,422 mAh for the physical SIM version), which is a 19% increase compared to the 4,685 mAh battery in the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Those are both significant capacity gains, and when you factor in the new 2nm A20 Pro chip, battery life should be markedly improved compared to predecessors. Apple claims 33 hours of video playback for the iPhone 18 Pro (up from 27 hours on the iPhone 16 Pro) and 45 hours of video playback for the iPhone 18 Pro Max (up from 33 hours on the iPhone 16 Pro Max).
We will obviously verify those claims once we get our hands on the two models for testing, but until then it looks like Apple has focused on battery runtime this year.
