GTA 6 is close, and the console question is getting loud.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's publisher Take-Two lists the standard edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Digital pre-loading and physical copies (which are a download code in a box) start on November 12.
Many people are now searching for a "GTA 6 PS5 bundle". Here is the short answer. We found no official Sony or Rockstar GTA 6 PS5 bundle for the US. Some retailers sell their own console-plus-game packages in Europe. Below is what is confirmed, what is not, and what we would buy.
Key dates
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| June 24 | Take-Two announced GTA 6 pre-orders |
| November 12 | Digital pre-load starts, physical code-in-box copies available |
| November 19 | **GTA 6 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X |
| November 20 | Pre-order bonus ends (Vintage Vice City Pack for pre-orders and purchases before this date) |
What exists, and what does not
Official US bundle: not found. The Take-Two announcement names PlayStation 5 as a platform and the PlayStation Store as a sales channel. It does not mention a console bundle. Older talk of a PS5 Pro and GTA 6 bundle came from rumors and was never confirmed.
Retailer bundles in Europe: yes. The German store Otto lists three packages that ship on November 19. Each has a console plus GTA 6 as a download code:
- PS5 Pro (2TB, no disc drive): 1,599 euros
- PS5 with disc drive (1TB): 899 euros
- PS5 with disc drive (1TB) plus a second controller: 999 euros
Prices were checked by the reporting site on October 20 and can change. We do not know if Sony backs these bundles. They are not US offers.
A PS5 bundle that does exist now: PlayStation Direct lists a PS5 Digital Edition with Marvel's Wolverine for $649. It is not a GTA 6 bundle.
How much storage does GTA 6 need?
Rockstar has not published the install size. Unofficial leaks point to 150GB to just under 200GB. Red Dead Redemption 2, at around 150GB, is the usual comparison. Treat all of this as an estimate until Rockstar confirms it. Patches can also add more space later.
That matters because the Digital Edition has only 825GB, and the system files and your other games already use part of it.
PS5 Digital vs Disc vs Pro for GTA 6
PlayStation Direct prices below are as listed at the time of writing. All three showed as unavailable or "coming soon", so check stock before you plan around them.
| PS5 Digital Edition | PS5 (disc drive) | PS5 Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Direct price | $599 | $649 | $899 |
| Storage | 825GB | 1TB | 2TB |
| Disc drive | No | Yes | No |
| Room for GTA 6 (est. 150-200GB) | Tight | Better | Most room |
| Best for | Digital-only players | Most people | Players who want the best performance |
The PS5 Pro has a faster GPU and sharper upscaling. For a full Slim vs Pro breakdown, read our PS5 Slim vs PS5 Pro guide. The Pro is the hardest model to find right now. A retail report said Best Buy had a brief Pro restock on October 23 and sold out again.
Where each one wins
- PS5 Digital Edition: the lowest price of the three, and fine if you only buy digital games. Its 825GB fills quickly with one 150-200GB game.
- PS5 with disc drive: the balanced pick. More space, and you can play and resell physical discs. Sony said in July that new PlayStation games will stop coming on disc from January 2028, but discs for older games keep working. GTA 6 itself ships as a code in a box, not a disc.
- PS5 Pro: the most storage and the best performance. It costs $300 more than the Digital model, and stock is limited.
- A big SSD: an officially licensed M.2 drive such as the WD_BLACK SN850P 2TB adds room for GTA 6 plus your other games. It is a solid add-on for the Digital or disc console.
Which should you buy?
- You have no PS5 and want it for GTA 6: buy the disc PS5 at list price from Amazon, PlayStation Direct or a major store. Do not pay a reseller markup.
- You only buy digital games: the Digital Edition works, but plan to add a 2TB SSD soon.
- You want the best graphics and can find one at list price: the PS5 Pro. Do not chase scalper prices.
- You already own a PS5: you do not need a new console. Make sure you have about 200GB free before the November 12 pre-load.
- Wait: if you can live without GTA 6 on day one, wait for an official bundle or Black Friday offers. Retailer bundles may appear closer to launch, and see our Black Friday PS5 deals guide for what to watch.
