Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, both powered by the new A20 Pro chip. While Apple praised its latest flagship SoC for being faster and more efficient than ever, how does it actually perform in standard testing? Two new iPhones identifying themselves as the iPhone 19,2 and iPhone 19,3 have run Geekbench 6.7.
Their single-core scores are 4,719 and 4,612, respectively, while their multi-core scores reach 12,677 and 11,819. Averaging these gives roughly 4,665 in single-core and 12,248 in multi-core. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, these numbers represent a 21% to 23% jump in both single-core and multi-core performance. This is a very solid gain, particularly considering the A20 Pro is built on TSMC's 2nm process.


The A20 Pro's CPU clock frequency climbs up to 4.93GHz, and the new flagship iPhones come equipped with 12GB of unified RAM running iOS 27.
For comparison, early listings for the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 show a single-core score of 4,139 and a multi-core score of 13,285. While the Dimensity posts a slight lead in multi-threaded workloads, Apple maintains a significant advantage in single-core responsiveness.

Early figures for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 are also beginning to emerge. The flagship processor battle will become even clearer once Qualcomm and MediaTek host their official summits later this month.
