The short answer
For most living rooms, the LG C5 OLED 65" is the 65-inch TV to buy. Its self-lit pixels give perfect blacks and contrast no LED TV can match, it supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Filmmaker Mode, and LG says it is verified glare-free for brighter rooms. A year after launch, the 2025 model sells well below its original price, which makes it the best value OLED at this size.
If your room is very bright, the Hisense U8 (65U8QG) is the pick: its Mini-LED backlight is rated up to 5,000 nits with thousands of dimming zones and a 165 Hz panel for gaming. The Samsung S90F is the OLED alternative for Samsung homes and gamers who want 144 Hz. The Sony Bravia 5 is the movie lover’s Mini-LED with Sony’s processing and studio-calibrated modes, and the Hisense U7 (65U7SG) gives you most of the U8’s features for less.
Skip the LG C5 if the TV will sit opposite big sunny windows and you watch a lot of daytime sports. OLEDs dim on large bright scenes, and a Mini-LED like the Hisense U8 stays punchier. Also skip it if you leave news channels or games with fixed logos on for many hours a day; burn-in is rare now but still a small risk with OLED.
How we picked: we compared the 65-inch models people buy most on Amazon, read each live listing for panel type, brightness and gaming features, and checked what owners say after living with them. We don’t claim lab measurements. For other sizes, see our best TVs and best 55-inch TVs guides. Checked October 2026.

Why each one made the list
What each pick does best, where it falls short, and the typical Amazon price when we checked.
- 1. Best Overall
LG C5 OLED 65"
BeastScore 93 / 100Typically $1,150–$1,400 on Amazon (checked October 13, 2026)The C5 is the OLED most people should buy. Over 8 million self-lit pixels turn off completely for true black, so dark movies and night scenes look deeper than on any LED set. LG’s Brightness Booster and a UL-verified glare-free screen help it hold up in normal living room light, and the Alpha 9 Gen8 processor upscales cable and older shows cleanly. It supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Filmmaker Mode, and owners praise it for console gaming. Now that the 2025 model is discounted, it costs far less than LG’s newest OLEDs. It is not as bright as a top Mini-LED in a sun-filled room.
Pros- Perfect blacks and contrast from self-lit pixels
- Glare-free screen verified by UL
- Excellent for PS5 and Xbox gaming
Cons- Dimmer than Mini-LED on big bright scenes
- Small burn-in risk with static logos
- Built-in speakers are only average
- 2. Best for Bright Rooms
Hisense U8 65" (65U8QG)
BeastScore 90 / 100Typically $900–$1,100 on Amazon (checked October 13, 2026)The U8 is built to beat bright rooms. Hisense rates it at up to 5,000 nits with up to 5,600 local dimming zones, so HDR highlights pop and daytime sports stay vivid. The Anti-Reflection Pro screen cuts glare from windows and lamps. Gamers get a native 165 Hz panel, VRR up to 288 Hz with Game Booster and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It also has 4.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos speakers, which sound fuller than most TVs without a soundbar. Owners love the brightness for the money. Blacks are very good but not OLED-perfect, and wide viewing angles can wash out the picture a little.
Pros- Brightest pick here, made for sunny rooms
- 165 Hz panel with FreeSync Premium Pro
- Fuller built-in sound with 4.1.2 Atmos speakers
Cons- Blacks not as perfect as OLED
- Picture fades a bit off-angle
- Bright default modes need tuning for movies
- 3. Best for Movies
Sony Bravia 5 65" (K-65XR50)
BeastScore 88 / 100Typically $1,300–$1,500 on Amazon (checked October 13, 2026)The Bravia 5 is the pick if you care most about a natural, film-like picture. Its Mini-LEDs are run by Sony’s XR Backlight Master Drive, which Sony says delivers captivating brightness with authentic contrast. The XR Processor handles motion and upscaling well, and studio-calibrated modes for Netflix, Prime Video and Sony Pictures Core show films as the creators intended. You also get movies included through the Sony Pictures Core app, plus Google TV, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. It costs more than the Hisense models for less raw brightness and fewer gaming extras, so it is a picture-quality choice, not a value one.
Pros- Natural, accurate picture with Sony processing
- Studio-calibrated streaming modes
- Google TV plus AirPlay 2 and Chromecast
Cons- Pricier than the Hisense Mini-LEDs
- Fewer gaming extras than the U8
- Not as bright as the U8 in sunny rooms
- 4. Best OLED for Samsung Homes
Samsung S90F OLED 65"
BeastScore 87 / 100Typically $1,300–$1,500 on Amazon (checked October 13, 2026)The S90F is Samsung’s answer to the LG C5. It is an OLED with the same perfect blacks, driven by the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor with 128 neural networks for upscaling. Gamers get 4K at up to 144 Hz with VRR, slightly faster than many OLEDs, and Samsung’s motion processing keeps fast balls in sports sharp. It also has Alexa built in and works neatly with Samsung phones and soundbars. Owners like the bright, punchy picture. The catch for movie fans: Samsung TVs don’t support Dolby Vision, using HDR10+ instead, and it usually costs more than the C5 at 65 inches.
Pros- OLED blacks with 144 Hz gaming
- Strong AI upscaling for cable and older shows
- Works well with Samsung phones and soundbars
Cons- No Dolby Vision support
- Usually costs more than the LG C5
- Small burn-in risk like all OLEDs
- 5. Best Value
Hisense U7 65" (65U7SG)
BeastScore 86 / 100Typically $800–$900 on Amazon (checked October 13, 2026)The U7 is the newest TV here and the cheapest way to get a serious Mini-LED at 65 inches. The 2026 model is rated at up to 3,000 nits with up to 3,000 dimming zones, which is a lot of light and control for the money. It keeps the U8’s native 165 Hz panel and pushes VRR to 330 Hz with Game Booster, plus Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced. A dual-layer anti-reflection treatment helps in bright rooms. It is a new model with a smaller pool of owner reviews, it has fewer zones than the U8 and only 2.1.2-channel sound.
Pros- Mini-LED brightness for well under $1,000
- 165 Hz panel with Dolby Vision and HDR10+
- Newest 2026 model with anti-reflection screen
Cons- Fewer dimming zones than the U8
- Simpler 2.1.2-channel speakers
- New model with a shorter owner track record

Big sunny windows favor the Hisense U8 or U7. Dim rooms and movie nights favor OLED.
Some 65-inch TVs use wide-set feet. Check the foot spread fits your console before ordering.
