Sony is celebrating 30 years of Gran Turismo with a special PS5 controller.
On October 14, 2026, Sony revealed the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition on the PlayStation Blog. It costs $84.99 in the US. Pre-orders open on October 22 at 10:00am ET, and the controller launches on December 10.
The same post announced Part 1 of the Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV update, a free update with six new cars and the Sportsland Sugo circuit.
Sony says the controller will be sold in limited quantities, while supplies last. If you want one, the pre-order day matters.

Prices, dates and the design description come from Sony's PlayStation Blog post. The race number and white shell are visible in Sony's official product image. Standard DualSense features come from Sony's Amazon listing.
Where sources disagree:
- Retailers. Sony says pre-orders open "direct from PlayStation (where available), as well as participating retailers." It does not name the US retailers. Some sites say only PlayStation Direct in the US. If you plan to use Amazon or another store, check on October 22.
- Update date. As above, October 14 in the US and October 15 in Europe and Japan.
What is new
The design is the whole point. Sony says the controller is inspired by the craftsmanship and engineering behind Gran Turismo. It pairs racing stripes and motorsport graphics with a textured, carbon-fibre-style front plate. The official image also shows a "30" race number, a "Worldwide 100 Million 2025" badge and the line "The Drive of Your Life."
No hardware changes have been announced. Sony calls it a DualSense wireless controller and talks only about the look. So you should expect the same haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and battery as a normal DualSense. We will update this if Sony says otherwise.
The price matches other recent special editions. The Shortcut notes that $84.99 is in line with Sony's other limited edition DualSense controllers, such as the Marathon edition.
It comes with a free game update. Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV (Part 1) adds six new cars, including the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94, the Honda Civic Si Group A '87 and the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26. It also adds the Sportsland Sugo circuit, six new World Circuit events, a new Experience mode and new Car Viewer features. Sony says Part 2 follows later. You need an internet connection to download it, and in-game credits to buy the new cars.
Where each one wins
- Gran Turismo Limited Edition wins on looks and collector value. It is a one-time anniversary design, and Sony is only making a limited number.
- Standard DualSense wins on price and availability. You can buy it today, and it should play the same.
Which should you buy?
- Pre-order the Gran Turismo Limited Edition if you love Gran Turismo and want a controller that stands out. Be ready at 10:00am ET on October 22.
- Buy a standard DualSense if you just need a second controller for couch play or to replace a worn one. You do not have to wait until December.
- Buy Gran Turismo 7 if you have a PS5 but not the game. The Spec IV update is free for all players.
- Wait if you are hoping for a full Gran Turismo bundle or more items. Sony has only announced the controller so far, and Spec IV Part 2 is still to come.
